Kevin Is Most Thankful For…

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Hope everyone is spending quality time with their loved ones. Sadly speaking, this Thanksgiving holiday is an empty one for me. My parents are working, my brother is no where to be seen, and my relatives are not congregating together.
[My parents are coming home early and our family will head out for our Thanksgiving dinner. :)]
On the bright side, tomorrow is the unofficial start of the Black Friday and Americans will do what we are best at. Spend and spend some more while you’re at it. It is rather ironic how credit card companies advice their customers to not overload their credit charges.

Before I digress further, I am most thankful for:
My parents: They have accomplished so much throughout the years and will continue for the years to come. I admire my father and I truly thank him for everything that he has to offer for my brother and me. I love my mother for constantly telling me to eat by preparing meals and bringing home takeouts.
College Education: I am so thankful and privilege to get a college education. I believe I will take full advantage of my education to do God’s work now and later. I am satisfied of what I have so far for Sarang Community Church. I also know that my college education will support me and my own family by bringing food in the table and providing shelter.
Close Friends: Hope all of you are taking good care of yourself and seeking good things in life. Thank you.
My Life: I am thankful for who I am. Although I have many weaknesses that I have acknowledged years ago, there is also much strength to balance out my abilities. I am already twenty one years old and I still have a long path waiting. I am thankful to look back and realize how much I have grown and how my character have developed.
Small Things: I am thankful for all the opportunities I had and the events that I partake for life-long memories. Small things are what counts in life.
Jesus Christ: For being my God. I’m thankful that Christ is not letting me go even after all the sinful deeds and thoughts that I practiced. Even to this day, I run back to my habitual activities, Jesus Christ await and listen to my prayer and repentance. What would my life be without Christ.

Evangelism, How “Others” Criticize

Our college group in Sarang Community Church emphasises on three goals (very much our mission statement): Prayer, Community, and Evangelism.

People can criticize and judge one another like if it was our sixth sense. Christians criticize other christians if they seem to not follow the doctrine, whatever that is. I get quite upset when I hear my fellow brothers or sisters judge their own friends of how they dress, their character & personality, their social lives, and etc. But before I get carried away on this blog, I wanted to share about evangelism.

My ReComm (Sarang Regional Community) leader told our group that when we go out to evangelize, we can now tell others that we are actually living a christian life since we are being active in evangelism and sharing the word with non-believers. Well that is great if you really have the right motive to go out and evangelize. I had to run an errand for my father and drove down to Hanmi bank this morning. An old Korean lady was sitting outside of the bank and handing out flyers. The flyer in itself was an evangelism tool to invite christians and non-christians to know Christ in their life. A comic strip was drawn in the cover of the flyer. Let me illustrate the comic: a long line of teenagers and young adults were forming a line to get an autograph from a famous CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) sing. In the end of the line, a person who appears to be Jesus Christ asks, “What is this line for?” The girl replies, “A famous CCM singer is signing autographs. Get in the line after me.” The message that the comic is trying to send out is, teenagers and young adults today are really after the praise music rather than to have the desire to know Jesus Christ.

Even in our own college ministry, I’ve heard numerous times from others saying how the praise band has improved a lot or …
